Adam Jafferji Ceramics
The ceramic pieces that I create are an attempt to pay homage to naturally occurring shapes that inspire me. Clay is such a malleable, versatile yet also enduring material that I am able to preserve my impressions of impermanent subject matter in a permanent medium. By constructing my pieces by hand using slab building, coiling and sculpting techniques I am able to work at a pace which allows me the time to focus on the detail and produce work that reflects the intricacy of the subject matter. Using both porcelain or stoneware clay as well as a wide variety of glazes and underglazes, depending on the optimal materials for the job, to create vibrant and unique pieces that will not degrade or its colours fade against the ravages of time.
